Milena Villalón (b. 1988, Barcelona, Spain) studied photography at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin (Germany, 2018) focusing on documentary, journalistic and artistic genres, carrying out her final project ‘Tage mit Marie’ with Werner and Ute Mahler.
Using the camera as a means of understanding her environment and personal experiences, her work addresses themes such as memory, symbols and intimacy. Navigating between documentary and autobiographical issues, she has portrayed a lyrical world about her inner circles and the details of the everyday life. Later on, she has travelled to North Africa and the Middle East, where she has made her own journeys the starting point for her documentary work.
Her work has been exhibited internationally both in solo and group shows, and recognized in the form of publications and nominations such as Geo, PHotoEspaña (Descubrimientos 2020), British Journal of Photography and Lucie Awards, among others.
She lives and works in Berlin and Paris.

Milena Villalón (geb. 1988, Barcelona, Spanien) studierte Fotografie an der Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin (Deutschland, 2018) mit Schwerpunkt auf dokumentarischen, journalistischen und künstlerischen Genres und führte ihr Abschlussprojekt ‘Tage mit Marie’ bei Werner und Ute Mahler durch.
Ihre Arbeit nutzt die Kamera als Mittel, um ihre Umgebung und persönliche Erfahrungen zu verstehen. Sie beschäftigt sich mit Themen wie Erinnerung, Symbolen und Intimität. Sie navigiert zwischen dokumentarischen und autobiografischen Themen und hat eine lyrische Welt über ihre inneren Kreise und die Details des Alltags dargestellt. Später reiste sie nach Nordafrika und der mittlere Osten, wo sie ihre eigenen Reisen zum Ausgangspunkt ihrer dokumentarischen Arbeit machte.
Ihre Arbeiten wurden international sowohl in Einzel- als auch in Gruppenausstellungen ausgestellt und in Form von Publikationen und Nominierungen gewürdigt, unter anderem für Geo, PHotoEspaña (Descubrimientos 2020), British Journal of Photography und Lucie Awards.
Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Paris.
